Bart van Lieshout

I started my career as an architect. I designed buildings for a decade, working on over 60 projects between 2003 and 2013.

For many projects and competitions, I worked on the concept design of the building and created the visualisations to sell the project to a client. Above an artist impression of student housing in Delft, below a rendering for a training center for divers.

Atrium and overview of the Westraven building for Rijkswaterstaat, located at the intersection of the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal with the A12 motorway in Utrecht.

Renderings for a temporary stadium on the Malieveld in Den Haag, part of the bid the city made for Cultural Capital of Europe in 2018. The entire stadium is created with standard scaffolding material and wrapped in a huge print of the Metamorphose by Maurits Cornelis Escher.

Visualisations for the Gienah skyscraper in Abu Dhabi, featuring a central atrium with a swimming pool at the top :)

The Building Information Model (BIM) of the Alkmaar hospital, showing the layout of the superstructure (above) and a close-up of an operating room (below).

Outlook building on Schiphol, home to the Dutch Microsoft headquarters.

Side projects

On a regular basis, I did side projects and participated in design competitions, in architecture and other fields. One of these side projects was this single-seater electric vehicle I designed in 2011.
